General Hard Disk Problems
--> Problem The new operating system installer does not identify the hard disk. Remedy Switch off the computer. Remove the power cable. Open the cabinet. Check whether the hard disk power and data cables are connected properly. Change the hard disk power cable and check if it is identified in the CMOS setup. After confirming whether the hard disk is listed in the CMOS setup, boot the computer with the Disk manager bootable disk. Using disk manager, create a partition and prepare the hard disk. Now start the operating system installation. The Operating system will now identify the hard disk. Problem Unable to delete or create partitions in a hard disk. Remedy Check whether the hard disk is identified by a disk utility like FDISK. A Partition table virus may cause this kind of problem. Boot with a clean boot floppy and scan the hard disk for a virus infection. Even after this, if the partitions cannot be modified, use Disk Manager. ...
