Monitor
Problem
Monitor LED blinks and shows an orange light.
Remedy
- Check whether the monitor is connected to the correct VGA port.
- Check whether the computer is on.
- This situation arises when the computer is not sending any data / signal.
- Connect the monitor cable to the correct VGA port and check.
- If the problem is not solved, then switch off and remove the monitor. Inspect the monitor cable for any physical damage.
- If the cable is damaged, replace the monitor cable.
- Connect power and connect the monitor to the correct VGA port.
- Switch on the computer to check if the display is okay.
- This problem may also arise due to a failed VGA card.
- If the problem is not due to cable, switch off the computer and check by using another working display card.
- If the problem is not solved then repeat instructions given in the motherboard troubleshooting.
Problem
The image on the screen is shaking and a little flicker is seen.
Remedy
- Check whether there are any speakers or UPS nearby.
- Remove any device that produces a strong magnetic field.
- Check the display adapter and monitor operating frequency, in the advanced display properties.
- Set the adapter refresh rate to the optimum frequency supported by the monitor.
- Restart the computer and check the display.
- Now the monitor will work normally and no flicker will be seen.
Problem
A single horizontal line is appearing on the monitor.
Remedy
- Check the video cable for any damage.
- Check any device nearby that may produce a strong magnetic field and remove it.
- If the problem is not solved, it may be due to an internal fault in the monitor.
- The vertical deflection circuit / IC / yoke may have gone wrong.
- The SMPS inside the monitor could have gone wrong.
- Similar problem can occur as a single horizontal line appearing on the screen.
- To verify check the monitor in another computer.
- Send the monitor for service, as these are not field serviceable faults.
Problem
There is some colour change on one side of the monitor screen.
Remedy
- Check for any damaged monitor cable.
- Check whether the monitor cable is extremely twisted.
- Do not move or rotate the monitor while it is switched on.
- Extreme rotating may cause the a twisted monitor cable and this will result in colour changes in the display.
- Switch off the computer and the monitor.
- Set all the cables connected to the computer neatly.
- Position the monitor correctly and then connect to the computer.
- Switch on the computer and check whether the problem is repeating.
- If the problem is not solved then use the following step.
- Use a de-gauzing coil to rectify this problem.
Problem
The monitor shows distorted images.
Remedy
- Check for any strong electromagnetic fields nearby.
- Remove such devices that produce an electromagnetic field.
- Check if the correct monitor driver is installed and the adapter frequency is set to optimum
- If the problem persists, then send the monitor for servicing.
